Connecting Your First Channel
A step-by-step guide to connecting a new communication channel to your Autoch.at workspace.
Overview
Autoch.at supports multiple channels — website chat, SMS, email, voice, and social media DMs. This guide walks you through connecting a new channel so conversations from that channel start flowing into your inbox.
Connecting the website chat widget
The chat widget is the fastest channel to set up.
Go to Chat Widget settings
Navigate to Settings > Chat Widget.
Configure the widget
Set the widget's display name, greeting message, and color to match your brand. You can preview changes in real time.
Copy the installation snippet
Click Copy Code to copy the JavaScript snippet.
Install on your website
Paste the snippet into your website's HTML just before the closing </body> tag. If you're using WordPress, use a plugin like Insert Headers and Footers or add it directly in your theme's footer template.
Test it
Visit your website and start a test conversation to confirm the widget is working.
Connecting email
Go to Email settings
Navigate to Settings > Email.
Add your domain
Enter the domain you want to receive emails on (e.g., support@yourcompany.com).
Publish DNS records
Autoch.at will provide SPF, DKIM, and MX records to add to your domain's DNS. Add these records in your domain registrar or DNS provider.
Verify the connection
Click Verify after publishing the DNS records. Verification may take a few minutes while DNS propagates.
Set up forwarding (if needed)
If you already have an email address receiving messages, set up forwarding from that address to your Autoch.at inbound address.
Connecting SMS
Provision a phone number
Go to Settings > Phone Numbers and click Get a Number. Choose a local or toll-free number.
Assign it to SMS
Go to Settings > SMS and select the number you just provisioned as your SMS number.
Test it
Send a text message to the number and confirm it appears in your Conversations inbox.
Connecting social media
Go to Social Profiles
Navigate to Social Media > Profiles.
Connect your account
Click Connect Account, select your platform (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or X), and follow the authorization flow.
Confirm the connection
Once authorized, the account will appear as connected. New DMs from that platform will now flow into your inbox.
